Mental Health option

When you’re running a business, you want your employees to flourish in their roles, not suffer in silence if life becomes a struggle. Today, we know that people often have problems with their mental health, so looking after your employees' minds as well as their bodies, is more important than ever.

With our Mental Health option in place, you’ll show your business commitment to supporting mental health. And you’ll be able to help your staff start feeling like themselves again, whether they need counselling*, psychologial therapy, or psychiatric treatment in a private hospital (individual exclusions may apply, regardless of group cover).

Supporting mental health in the workplace

  • Your employees can talk confidentially to an expert without any fuss. As soon as stress, anxiety or depression takes hold, they just need to call us to arrange an assessment.*
  • Our approved network of counsellors and psychologists span the UK and have been carefully selected to support our members.
  • If counselling is recommended, our mental health assessments and support service will arrange in-person or remote video sessions – whatever feels right.
  • There’s no need for them to take time out for a GP appointment – we can book an appointment with a mental health professional such as a counsellor or psychologist who will listen to their concerns and guide them to the right support.
  • If your employee has a complex condition, or their treatment plan needs to be revised, our mental health assessments and support service team will be there to guide them, ensuring they’re comfortable with every decision that’s made to help them get well.

*Available to members aged 18 and over. Only counselling arranged through this service is covered by this cover option.

Talking to an expert to reduce the worry

Mental health

Anne is 39 and is part of a team of 12 other recruitment consultants. Recently, Anne has been feeling depressed and has found it increasingly difficult to sleep at night. As a recruitment consultant, her role is highly target-focussed. She’s been lacking energy, feeling exhausted and falling short of her targets at work, which is adding to her stress.

Anne has a very honest and open relationship with her manager and confides in her during their next catch up. Anne’s manager reminds her that she has access to mental health support as part of their business health insurance. This means that she doesn’t need a GP referral – she can simply call the mental health assessments and support service to start receiving help and support.

On her lunch break, Anne calls the service and books a call to speak to a counsellor that afternoon at a time that suits her. The counsellor listens attentively and immediately Anne starts to feel better about things. They subsequently agree a plan that includes 5 remote video sessions which are more convenient for Anne to attend than in-person sessions. Taking this first step already makes Anne feel brighter for the first time in a long while and getting here has been easier than she expected it to be – thanks to the Mental Health option.
