When your clients need menopause support, we’re here to help

We offer specialist menopause support to SME and Individual members.

Your client just needs to have an outpatient option included on their plan to access the full benefit.

What is the menopause?

Officially the menopause occurs when your periods stop due to lower hormone levels. However, symptoms of the menopause can occur way before this during a period of time called perimenopause. Menopause symptoms vary for everyone, but some examples include hot flushes, anxiety, mood swings, brain fog (problems with memory or concentration), irregular periods, difficulty sleeping, headaches/migraines and reduced sex drive.

As well as having physical symptoms, menopause and perimenopause can also have a big emotional impact. Reduced hormone levels combined with difficulty sleeping can have a knock-on effect on all aspects of life.

How can AXA help?

Online GP service

If your clients or their employees need more medical support, the next step is to speak to a GP. They can access our online private GP service, AXA Doctor at Hand 24/7, 365 days a year (subject to appointments availability). AXA Doctor at Hand appointments are with qualified GPs and they’ll be able to make a diagnosis and recommend a care plan for managing short- and long-term symptoms.

Shake hands

British Menopause Society specialists

Most women find they can manage perimenopause symptoms with wellbeing support and lifestyle changes, or through the advice of their GP. However, if your client or their employees experience complex symptoms that a GP can’t manage within primary care, a GP can refer them on for specialist care with our network of British Menopause Society (BMS) accredited consultant gynaecologists. This support is available when your client includes cover for out-patient specialist consultations and diagnostic tests on their plan. The routine management of the symptoms of menopause is not covered by our plans. BMS specialists also offer remote appointments so, no matter where they are, they can access support. Large Corporate clients must also choose to remove the exclusion of menopause.

Please note, we sometimes use the terms 'women', 'female' and 'her'. However, we want to be clear that this is inclusive of everyone who goes through menopause symptoms as a result of hormonal changes.
